Mishawum Manor Scandal continues.

March 31, 1922

(March) Daniel Coakley, Joseph Pelletier, and Nathan Tufts are disbarred and Pelletier and Tufts are removed as Suffolk County District Attorney and Middlesex County District Attorney respectively for their involvement in prostitution, blackmail, and extortion. The investigation was spurred by the New England Watch and Ward Society. It was led by Godfrey Lowell Cabot, who described his role by saying, “You can go out to kill a lion and get lots of people to help you, but when you go out to kill a skunk you’ve got to do it yourself.” The three men are tried on criminal charges in 1924.*
